# 638

638

Catch Phrase: (1 Whistle), Color, Number, Penalty.

Athletic Background: I’m a Swimmer! I have been a competitive swimmer almost my entire life. I actually only learned how to skate about 4 years ago, just so i could ref roller derby.

Most Proud Derby Moment: When me and several other refs make a call at the same time for the same penalty.

Roller Derby Nickname: Boxkick, Murphy, Murph, Boxy

Worst Injury To Date: I managed to sprain my ankle 3 years ago and it still bothers me to this day. I have also fallen on my skate a couple of times resulting in some pretty impressive bruises.

What Brought You To Derby: I found out the sport existed in 2009, so I started going to bouts as a spectator and eventually got information on clinics and went from there. It didn’t take long for me to realize being a skater isn’t what i wanted and that reffing is a better fit.

Signature Move: Doing a quick shake of my head when i see an action I can’t quite place. I’m told my facial expression are pretty funny as well.

First Thing You Do After A Bout?: I go home and watch Netflix, i’m not much for after parties.

What Do You Do At the Bout?: I skate my brains out making sure the game runs in a safe and fair manner. I will also fill in as a Non Skating Official when needed.

Other Teams or Leagues You Worked With?: I work with any league that needs help with officiating bouts. Med City Mafia, Goosetown, Mississippi Valley Mayhem, Minnesota Men’s Roller Derby, Moose Lake Mafia, and Chippewa Valley Roller Girls to name a few. I also help with the junior roller derby leagues; NERDYs and TCJRD.

Favorite Moment At A Home Bout?: When everyone is having a good time, the whole arena has a fun energy to it, those are my favorite bouts to Ref.
